You were, however, born with the intrinsic ability to nourish yourself. I know it’s scary to trust yourself with the decisions you make over food. Self-trust means we are trusting ourselves with our choices. When we take responsibility, we are acknowledging that we have a choice. Learning to trust yourself by taking responsibility for your health and wellness is the key to breaking free from the shackles of the diet industry. How much more of your hard-earned cash are you willing to give away to fund the diet industry? The rebellious act If you trusted yourself to make healthy, balanced choices, you wouldn’t need to buy into their illusion. If we loved ourselves, we wouldn’t need them anymore, and they wouldn’t make money from us. The heart-breaking thing is, so many of us have given our power to individuals and companies that don’t want us to love ourselves. According to Yoni Freedhoff in his book, The Diet Fix, the weight loss industry has grown to be a $66 billion industry, yet at least 90% of diets fail. I wouldn’t be surprised if you have invested hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds in your lifetime. Let me ask you this: how much of your time, money, and, quite frankly, well-being have you wasted on bad advice, fad diets, supplements, and diet pills over the years?
